Meghan Markle Is the British Royal Family Scapegoat

Meghan Markle is going to bring down the British Royal Family if royal reporters, experts and the gaslight are to be believed. Let it be. As the Beatles sang, speaking words of wisdom let it be.

Since the successful Oceania tour that Prince Harry and Markle, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, took last fall, the knives sharpened against the couple. All his life, Prince Harry was assigned the role of spare and told to make peace with being in the shadow of his brother, Prince William. In case you haven’t heard about a million times now, William will be king. He’ll be restricted in his duties but he’ll be king as so Harry and Meghan must know their place. Harry has always had the free spirit of his late, Princess Diana, and often goes rogue. When he took Meghan’s hand in marriage in May 2018, he found a partner to share his ideals, but she is now too being subjected to being the Firm’s black sheep. Since she has melanin, the attacks against her character have been relentless with cruelty being the point. The 36-year-old American born royal should be one of the mascots of the archaic institution but instead serves as their scapegoat.

Taking photos for the gram but staying quiet while Meghan endures daily abuse is a choice. And no, complaining about the length of Kate Middleton’s hair extensions is not on the same tier as the orchestrated dehumanizing attacks on DOS. Everyone in that family has been beaten up in the press but there is a visceral hatred in the treatment of Meghan.

I’ve always believed that Meghan’s cardinal sin, other than virtue of having Black blood, is that she excelled. She is excellent and could not be afforded the privilege of standing high on any pedestal. The past few years have seen the press wind up the public with one faux outrage after another. As a writer and member of the press, we are all conscious of the language used to build a narrative and a harmful one of racist, sexist and xenophobic undertones has been planted by those who leverage influence in the British sphere. Meghan has been otherized; the go to person to kick around when other scandals enter the conservation. Prince William trended globally for two days over an alleged affair but the RR’s went all Mariah Carey: I don’t know her. Meghan’s in-laws may envy her popularity, but she also helps eclipse their shortcomings. Mediocrity never looked so good in juxtaposition to a WOC being thrown under the bus but enough is enough.

The blood you smell in the water today belongs to Prince Andrew as his association with billionaire financier Jeffrey Epstein is back in the news following Epstein’s arrest on sex trafficking charges. Epstein is accused of various vulgar acts against minors, some girls as young as 14. President Donald Trump, former POTUS Bill Clinton, Alan Dershowitz are other names linked to Epstein’s nefarious activities. All the men involved have denied guilt and none charged as of this writing. But they’re being talked about but if you were to go by the chest beating of the RR, it’s Meghan that is still at fault.

She’s in the wrong because her child won’t be extorted for positive press by a rabid crew that won’t be satisfied until they know just how many centimeters Meghan was dilated and which breast she uses to feed Archie.

Meghan Markle is not owed outpouring of affection and fealty by journalists, but ethics dictates that it be fair. There can not be more faux outrage ginned up over an appearance at Wimbledon and choosing with her husband for baby Archie’s christening to be private than there is for powerful men using their influence to abuse young girls. But like clockwork, the Meghan card was thrown down as if it were Andrew’s get out of jail free card. Andrew’s name is mentioned in passing by virtue of good faith and extending benefit of the doubt but that damn Meghan is at it again.

The Duchess of Sussex is a privileged woman many times over and has access to far better and uniquely qualified professionals who can and will defend her name. But I’m one of the daughters of Ida B. Wells and Toussaint Louverture. I come from a lineage of fighters and those who used their positions to bring about justice, speak truth to power. I don’t have the biggest platform but I have one.

I went from a mute to running my mouth because silence is no longer my prerogative; from a scared girl looking up at her abuser to a woman cloaked in the armor of righteousness and messiness. Because I’d love to see what these royal reporters would do if there were no Meghan Markle to use as a shield. If there were no royal family to eat and be fed well from.

Princess Diana died because she was hounded by the press. I’d rather the monarchy end than for another life to be sacrificed because there is no respect for the person and yes, the hate being ginning up against Meghan is reaching that point. There is a calculated smear campaign being carried out and I believe with help from those inside the castle walls. If only there was the same blood boiling for men and their foul behaviors.

  5. Media figures in the British press used to say: we pay for the royals so we have the right to know all about their life and to criticise them. Well, I would like to ask them kindly to pay attention at other royal family in Europe. In most of those countries, the public in general don’t demand private access; they just want them to represent their country – in and outside – in the best way and to do their public duty. That’s the deal. But Jesus, just name me one member of the BRF, ever being mugged with dehumanising rags, false speculations, racism and pure hate, by several media outlets and commentators on a daily basis. At this point I’m full of anger over the fact that the Royal family is hardly doing anything about this. Meghan only has Harry in the RF to endure the everlasting smear campaign. I don’t want to hear anything about people saying: “she is strong, she can bare this”. This persistent abuse must be unbearable for any human being, even if the one isn’t always paying attention, others close by do. So far it’s right to conclude that the entire Mountbatten-Windsor clan don’t have the capacity to relate to and really understand the effects of racism and pure hatred – spit out due to a person’s race, culture and background – have on someone’s well-being. They probably listen to H&M’s complains, saying to man up because they themselves have gone through, and then move on to live up to their mantra: don’t complain, don’t explain. F..k that! The madness upon Duchess Meghan must stop, for goodness sake.

  6. Spot on, Henny. No the British Monarchy can’t relate to racism and mistreatment on the basis of otherness, like ethnicity and skin colour, since they themselves have practice it for hundreds of years during colonialism and oppression. A matter like that doesn’t fade away overnight: It’s in their blood, even if they pretend not. I fear for Archie’s treatment in the years to come. Unless the Sussex’s start suing, they eventual will have to leave the royal family with their kids. The media attitude won’t change if the Royals’ own (collaborating) attitude towards the media (abuse) changes, ‘the game-play’ will not change without changing the system.

  7. I am tears over someone finally defending this wonderful lady, mother, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, niece, humanitarian, friend, wife,Christian, and overall human being. Shame on the British media and I do hope law suits are in the works. Meghan Markle,Duchess of Sussex does not deserve the lies and treatment she has received. I personally know many caucasians that cancelled vacations to London because of the treatment of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the racism and hatred toward Americans that was evident. Thank you for defending this mother and child of God at last.

    1. I agree with everything you said .She was being used as the scapegoat. It was easy because she has black in her. And we all know blacks are easy to blame. The absolute worst part of all of this is that William, Harry own brother, allowed his brother And family to be destroyed because he wanted to be more popular. That Kate, who Harry was so good and kind to when she joined the family,
Couldn’t for 5 minutes stop trying to be the perfect stepford royal robot and he compassionate to Megan .Even if she couldn’t do it for Megan , she could have done it for Harry because he has been nothing but compassionate towards her .

  8. Thank you for this article. I hope your truthful words, and others’ similar words, continue to reverberate around the world, shining a light on this hate, the complicity of the royal family & those behind palace walls, and dare I say, encourage it. People around the world are understanding the above, and will never look at the royal family again the same way or with the reverence they once held. It grieves my heart.

  15. I agree that there is a smear campaign against Meghan and Prince Harry. I also believe that it is spearheaded by Prince William and Prince Charles. There is racism and BIGOTRY at the head of everything. It’s all about standing in your place .

  16. Fantastic article that’s 100% true. After seeing how cruel the tabloids have been to Archie, I totally understand why the Sussexes aren’t in a rush to show photos of Lili Diana. Harry was right about not allowing Meghan to be continually comoditized by haters & the British media as his mother was. A real man protects his wife and children. Seeing that Andrew’s accuser is back in the news seeking justice, who’s going to be the next BRF scapegoat? Meghan and Harry gave up that postion when they left.

  17. What Meghan experienced in the UK, no human being should ever be subjected to and anyone who says ‘she knew what she was getting into’ is morally bankrupt or a racist. The cruelty and viciousness of such a calculated smear campaign was done to break her spirit. To have a whole country’s media unite in attacking you 24/7 in print, on TV, on radio and to have every article written about you spun in a negative way is insanity. But worst of all, is the Royal Family condoning it. They let this abuse go on unchecked without ever coming to her defense. They failed to protect her like they did for less deserving family members like Andrew. They knew how to shut down negative comments on their web pages for Camilla after one season of ‘The Crown’ but left her open to racist and hateful comments that are still there today… this is what turned me off from that entire institution. I am convinced William & Kate sanctioned the attacks on Meghan because of jealousy but the whole family is culpable for allowing the media to whip up the unhinged hatred for this woman. And for what? Fear of being overshadowed? What an insecure bunch the Royals are. Harry & Meghan had no choice but to leave the UK as it is unsafe for them and their children in such a racist, intolerant, right wing, anti immigrant environment.
